I was really taken with the vintage neon signs in the town of Livingston. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip. Can’t wait to return to Montana someday soon. Big Sky country is big time beautiful.

Their ceremony took place in the grand marble lobby of Minneapolis City Hall. Such a dramatic and beautiful setting! The reception followed in the Pohlad Lobby and Dowling Studio at The Guthrie Theater. Under the expert coordination and design direction of Donna at Pomp & Ceremony Events, the blank slate of the Dowling Studio was transformed into a chic wedding space with dramatic lighting and a ceiling full of colorful paper lanterns. Each table was named after Jenny and Will’s favorite restaurants throughout the world. Jennys’ dad and his friend handmade wooden place card holders for guests with Jenny & Will’s names and wedding date carved into each block.

While guests dined on amazing food from Sea Change catering, they were treated to a unique performance by the Actor’s Theater of Minnesota. Three hysterical actors performed the “Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)”. Guests were in stitches at the troupe’s funny Shakespearean antics. The performance ended with Jenny as Ophelia and Will as Hamlet (in a Vikings t-shirt, much to the chagrin of his Wisconsin roots). The performance was such a unique way to celebrate, and a perfect compliment to the theatrical backdrop of The Guthrie.

Incredible custom letterpress save the dates by Paperista featured a silhouette of the Minneapolis skyline in navy and metallic gold ink. Months later, guests were amazed by the Paperista letterpress sewn booklet invitations that carried that same skyline motif, and my favorite page (on which I shot the opening shot below of their rings) which carried quotes about love by Shakespeare. . . “Love is a spirit all compact of fire” and “In thy face I see honor, truth and loyalty” to name a few. The beautiful calligraphy of Rosann Konieczny adorned the invitations, escort cards and table name cards. The Taiwanese double happiness symbol was incorporated on many of the paper designs (and on the tasty cupcakes by Cocoa + Fig), to honor Will’s heritage.

Jenny and Will worked with jeweler Robert Foote to create custom rings. Will surprised Jenny with a wedding day gift from the same jeweler of stunning sapphire earrings and necklace.

Congrats Jenny and Will. I loved documenting your unique, theatrical and beautiful wedding celebration. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness together.

Carly and Robert both effortlessly exude chic style. Carly and her bridesmaids all wore custom designed dresses from the designer Avion Feminin. Carly’s Lanvin heels were to die for! And she wore amazing earrings and a cuff bracelet from the jewelry designer Erickson Beamon. Robert looked so sharp in his Brooks Brothers suit. And I just loved his lime green socks!

We had so much fun with big red balloons and moustaches on sticks during our photo time with the wedding party at Gold Medal Park. And, then we released the balloons off of the Nicollet Island Iron Bridge.

Carly and Robert’s custom letterpress invitations from Mr. Boddington’s Studio featured a map highlighting Minneapolis landmarks. The calligraphy on the invitation envelopes and place/menu cards by Queen Quills was exquisite.

After a gourmet dinner by D’Amico in the art gallery of Chambers Hotel, guests made their way upstairs to the rooftop lounge for dancing. The very talented DJ Steve spun creative mix that kept the dance floor packed.

The phrase “Love Louder Than Thunder” that was in their program has really stuck with me, that is so powerful.

Thank you Carly and Robert for having me document your beautiful wedding. May your love always feel louder than thunder.

Megan & Ryan are such a sweet couple. They were engaged by the Buckingham Fountain in Chicago, so we visited the fountain in Rice Park in St. Paul to echo their engagement setting. We visited a variety of spots in St. Paul and had such a nice time getting to know each other better. Great locations, great light, great couple.

I am so excited to document Megan & Ryan’s wedding in September!

Sarah and Zach were married in the amazing courtyard of the Mill City Museum in a ceremony that combined Jewish and Christian traditions. The Mill City Museum location was very fitting since Sarah works in marketing at General Mills, and previously worked on the Gold Medal Flour brand!

I was so honored to shoot alongside the very talented cinema team from Capture Studios. I just love their work and shooting with them was such a treat!

Congrats Sarah and Zach! Such an honor to document your perfect summer wedding.

And she was such a gorgeous bride. I was so honored to document her beautiful wedding to Mike in Des Moines, Iowa.

Megan and Mike were married at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church followed by a lovely summer evening reception at The Fort Des Moines Museum. Their vibrant color pallate of summer green and bright orange were carried through all of their elements with a modern motif of circles and M+M monogram.

It was such a fun weekend, a great reunion of high school and college friends. Two past Red Ribbon Studio brides (and wonderful friends of mine, Valerie and Francesca, check out my past blog posts on their weddings by clicking on their names) were bridesmaids.

Congrats Megan and Mike. I wish you a lifetime of joy together.

I have recently been very inspired by some stop motion films, namely the Amazon Kindle commercials and Her Morning Elegance. So I proposed we do a stop motion film with a winter theme.

We had a blast shooting it at my studio. Thanks to my very talented photographer friend Erica Loeks for the production help for the shoot (she tossed and tossed and tossed all of that snow/white confetti, gave the scarf a mind of it’s own and placed each heart with care so they would flutter up the scene just right).

Debra and Alex, I am so excited to photograph your wedding in December. Thank you for indulging me in this creative stop motion adventure. I learned so much from the project, and had so much fun along the way.
